Mistakes

My Higher Self decided it was time to step in on my behalf.

“We all make mistakes.” This was a common household saying I learned early on in life. Both my parents were very understanding whenever a mistake was made. I, on the other hand, was not so tolerant of my mistakes. And as I grew into adulthood, a poor decision on my part would inevitably result in a repetitive pattern of “beating myself up.”

In the long run, I don’t believe this type of combative behavior has truly helped me to course-correct my mistakes. It only added more insult to injury and more of a gooey mess to remove from my aura. I’d much rather treat myself with kindness. The process of change can take place slowly or it can happen when you least expect it. My Higher Self decided it was time to step in on my behalf.

With this last mistake, I decided to try something completely different. Instead of stepping into the boxing ring with my well-worn boxing gloves, I instead had a sit-down, one-on-one compassionate talk with myself. And much to my surprise, I ended up saying, “I’m going to love myself through this.” And for the very first time in my life, I did not engage in a battle of fist-i-cuffs.

Several attempts were made, but they were quickly averted by stating, “I’m going to love myself through this.” Each time I repeated these words, I could literally feel my body begin to relax and heal. Truly heal from the inside out.

Bestowing compassionate kindness upon myself rather than berating the life out of myself, introduced a higher degree of consciousness. When I look back on my past major mistakes, they never had the proper chance to heal, due to my hard-core, unenlightened management. I merely limped along, feeling ever more critical of my mistakes.

Stating, “I’m going to love myself through this,” allowed me to sit with the mistake and observe it for what it was without judgment. This made it possible for me to realize the why and the way through it. And instead of feeling stuck and bad about myself, it empowered me to move forward in a positive direction.

Everything that I have gone through in my life has led me to this moment, and now that I’m here, I am more than happy to relinquish my boxing gloves.
