Not So Subtle

From subtle to sublime, it’s your choice every time.

This afternoon I sat in my backyard taking in the beauty of spring, while red breasted robins kept me company. A white lace colored butterfly flitted about, followed by a convoy of seven blue jays, who flew by in quick succession like members of a motorcycle club. Born to be wild!

I have recently taken up the therapeutic practice of forest bathing. I am fortunate enough to have a cathedral-like setting of mature and majestic pine trees in my backyard. It is here where I can rest my feet on a carpet of rich burnt sienna colored pine needles and verdant green grass—perfect for Earthing as well.

Weather permitting, I can be found sitting outside in my beach chair with both feet firmly planted to the ground, wearing a pair of suede moccasins. Rubber soled shoes prohibit the exchange of the Earth’s healing electrons. On warmer days I go au natural (footwear wise) and allow my feet to rest on Mother Earth. Both forest bathing and Earthing provide me with a deep sense of relaxation, as though I had spent an entire day at the beach.

Earthing in general, has the potential to address modern day health issues, which may in part be attributed to the loss of physical contact with the Earth’s surface, resulting in an electron deficiency in the body. One other area of concern, with regard to our health is our ever increasing exposure to electromagnetic pollution. However, it is important to point out that some areas may not be suitable for Earthing due to the high levels of ground current.

From cell towers to Wi-Fi, 5G, smart meters, cell phones, cordless phones, computers, and household or commercial dirty electricity, each of these devices or services produce various forms of invisible electromagnetic frequencies.  Each particular frequency bathes our bodies in electromagnetic radiation, 24/7 day and night. It is very easy to lull ourselves into a false sense of security, as these devices and or services are now a mainstay of society.

As a creature of habit, I enjoy sitting in the same outdoor location, although because of today’s heat I chose a more shaded area in which to sit. And from the get go, the feng shui of the land (the energetic flow) did not feel harmonious to me. This began to affect my internal landscape. However, I continued to dismiss the discomfort of my five physical senses, along with the subtle voice of my sixth sense—my intuition. I remained seated, once again due to the overhead shade.

Not feeling so good about this, voiced my intuition. And wouldn’t you know it, halfway through my leisurely activity, I received a visitor who confirmed my feelings of uneasiness.

While sitting in my beach chair, minding my own beeswax, from behind I heard a fast approaching, intimidating buzzing sound, increasing in volume. I froze stuck to my chair. “Just bee calm,” I instinctively said out loud.   BEEUUU! BEEUUU! First to the left side of my body and then to the right side flew an enormous bumblebee, locked onto my body like a heat seeking missile. Around and around it encircled me in an agitated state, clearly making its presence known. BZZZZZ! BZZZZZ! BZZZZZ! BZZZZZ!

“OK, OK, I get it. I invaded your space. My most humble bumble apologies. No worries, I’ll sit elsewhere.” BZZZZZ! So I quickly grabbed my chair and book to relocate elsewhere. And this time I chose a more agreeable spot, closer to where I normally sit. But just as I settled in . . . BZZZZZ! “Oh, come on!”, I yelled. “This town is plenty big enough for the two of us. I’m not moving a second time. So please, if you will, kindly buzz off.” bzzz…

And as the first bumblebee left town, I was then joined by a second peaceful bumblebee who was enjoying all the plants, trees and wild vegetation. Maybe it came here to forest bathe as well.

You know, here’s the funny thing about today’s experience with the B.B. As I mentioned earlier, the feng shui of the patch of grass I chose to sit on did not feel comfortable to my senses. This particular area has a downward slope, which made my chair sit slightly unlevel. Plus it was a little too shaded for my preference. But more than that, I felt uncomfortable for reasons I couldn’t see, and I’m not in the habit of ignoring subtle energetic exchanges. I have far too much reverence and respect for them.

Subtle energies have been interpreted throughout time by our ancestors alike, in order to make the most favorable, life-enhancing decisions.

Beneath the physical appearance of matter lies the subtle world of reality, which can be perceived by our five intuitive senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch). These subtle senses are capable of reaching greater depths and dimensions than the five physical senses. Relying upon our physical and intuitive subtle senses is important for navigating our lives.

In each and every moment we have the ability to be guided both physically and energetically towards harmony and alignment. This guidance is unique to each person. But only if we first take the time to feel and “listen.”

This is why it is most advantageous to get into the habit of checking in with yourself and your senses, in order to determine whether or not something feels harmonious to you. And if not, or when possible, do your best to change or correct the misalignment. Otherwise, you may just end up getting stung in more ways than one, which is certainly no fun nor day at the beach for anyone. From subtle to sublime, it’s your choice every time.
