Do you go down the rabbit hole?
I was first introduced to the concept of alignment many years ago when I worked as a professional house cleaner. The company through which I was employed subscribed to a series of life transforming principles. Spatial alignment was the first principle I learned.
Part of my training as a house cleaner involved consciously aligning the objects in a room, such that they created an overall effect that was both pleasing to the eye and uplifting to the soul. I was taught to carefully consider the placement of each object in relation to its surroundings.
Every pillow was fluffed and properly spaced apart, books were neatly stacked or displayed on the coffee table, the remote control was placed parallel to the TV, dining room chairs were aligned in perfect symmetry, and the fringe on the floor rug was attended to. Even the soap dispenser on the kitchen sink and all the counter appliances were arranged in an aesthetic appeal. Nothing went unnoticed nor was misaligned. And as a result, this created a harmonious atmosphere upon entering each room.
This specialized training relating to spatial awareness has remained with me and to this day continues to transform both my living environment and life. Throughout the years, I have widened the lens and further expanded on the art of alignment, where I now view life from a perspective of living in alignment versus misalignment.
One of the first areas that opened my eyes to this notion had to do with the products and merchandise I purchased. Did they align with my sense of aesthetics? Did the product or packaging reflect my favorite colors and personality? Did I resonate with them? How did they make me feel? Were they enjoyable and successful to use?
I then thought about the people in my life and whether or not they aligned with my values, beliefs, tastes, and interests. I next applied this principle to my home. Was it inviting? Did it instill a feeling of comfort, harmony, and happiness when I walked through the front door? Every area of my life continued to be transformed in ways I never would have imagined. Even the smallest details were not overlooked.
For example, one day I was looking at the silverware in our kitchen drawer. For many years I have been using my husband’s silverware (a remnant from his bachelor days which, by the way, he loves). The design is utilitarian, practical, and gets the job done. However, I finally decided that life was too short to continue using flatware that doesn’t suit my taste buds. Sorry, Honey. So we now each have a set of his and hers silverware. I chose a decorative style that I absolutely love, love, love.
The type of alignment I have outlined here involves that wonderful feeling of being on the same wavelength with a person, place, or thing. Have you ever noticed how your energy level skyrockets when you share a common interest or discover something you love? Living in alignment will energize your body and provide a deep feeling of contentment. But, more importantly, it will soften and disarm your heart rendering it capable of greater love.
It has now become a daily habit of mine to pay attention to when I feel completely in sync with something or someone versus feeling misaligned. This takes but a few seconds. This level of awareness continues to inform, enhance, and enrich all aspects of my life.
Years ago there were moments, days, and even years that went by where living in alignment did not seem possible nor was even on my radar. However, awareness was the first step toward this new way of life. Now when I look back on my life and see how far I have come due to this guiding principle, it motivates me to encourage others to do likewise.
This is why I am so passionate about living our lives in accordance with that which we desire, love, or makes us happy. Not only do I view life from an aligned versus misaligned perspective, I also see it in terms of an energetic exchange. In other words, whenever I feel a sense of resonance or feel-good vibes toward someone or something, I attribute these feelings to a shared and matching energetic frequency between myself and the individual, location, or object.
Problems can arise when misalignment or not being on the same wavelength occurs in a particular job, career, relationship, living environment, or any other area involving a personal choice. Constant exposure to anything that makes us feel out of sync or unhappy with our lives can both impact and weigh heavily on our health and well-being. When viewed on an energetic level, I personally believe that misalignment can disrupt our body’s natural frequency.
My personal journey toward realigning my life required small steps at first. Namely, household items. From there I continued to address each area of my life. Moreover, the art of alignment has helped me to further address my self-sabotaging tendencies, as well as shedding light on my limiting belief patterns held deep within my subconscious mind.
To be clear, I am not advocating an insular lifestyle devoid of diversity and differing opinions. In an ideal society, we would all respect and foster individuality.
Living in true alignment will afford you the opportunity to live in harmony and at the highest level of self-expression, creating a thermal lift for all of humanity. The art of alignment offers a unique path toward fulfillment and happiness. It is a truly wonderful and magical way to live life.
I owe a debt of gratitude to four special people. First and foremost, I would like to thank my wonderful husband and my dear father. Both of these men cheered me on across the finish line with their love and support. Each, in their own way, helped me to align with my true self.
The last two individuals I would like to thank are the proprietors of the cleaning company. Through their transformational principles they taught me how to align and let in my hopes and dreams. I wish the same for you.
